It's hinged on both sides, meaning that both the front and back can open independently of one another quite an unusual feature. The front is intricately hand chased with a black enamel cross motif, while the back has carved with a banner and the year 1859. The names that were originally carved onto the banner have been erased who knows why? It's crafted in 15 karat gold, particularly
